For these designs, we worked with climate refugees in Bangladesh like Juleka, paying them 2-4 times the local wage to help them rebuild their lives, while ensuring no fabric waste by design. To me, circular economy starts and ends with people. To make sure we had the designs to review and improve on from the start, I handstitched all the prototypes and had @moriya_blum and Rebecca try them on. We’ve been working on some really amazing collaborations. SO excited to share this one that just launched: SXD X @harvardinnovationlabs 🤩. This is a reversible laptop sleeve / bag that is (of course) zero waste. The white material incorporates leftover fabrics from scuba diving sets and the red material incorporates red shorts from the summer. The Harvard “H” branding is created using the two fabric colors. We also used a technology called ecorepel to make the product waterproof through biomimicry rather than harmful chemicals.
